Why Irish families learn online

Provision for children is concentrated almost entirely in Dublin. Outside the capital, most families have no structured Quran class for children within a reasonable drive, and nothing at all beyond primary age.

That is the practical reason online Quran classes in Ireland have grown faster than in any other market we teach. It is not a compromise for Irish families. For most of the country it is the only option that exists, and one to one teaching gives a child more individual reading time in a single session than a group class gives in a month.

If you want the full picture of what Irish Islamic education currently offers, we set it out in detail in our guide to Islamic education services in Ireland.

Where we teach

We run Quran classes in Ireland across every county, including:

Leinster. Dublin, Drogheda, Dundalk, Navan, Swords, Bray, Naas, Portlaoise, Mullingar, Athlone, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford.

Munster. Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Ennis, Tralee, Clonmel, Killarney.

Connacht and Ulster. Galway, Sligo, Castlebar, Letterkenny, Monaghan, Cavan.

Northern Ireland families in Belfast, Derry and Lisburn are taught on the same timetable.

Because teaching is online, your county changes nothing about which teacher you get or which slots are available. A family in Ennis gets exactly the same provision as a family in Clonskeagh.

Lessons on Irish evenings

Ireland and the UK share the same clock, so the question is not timezone conversion. It is whether an academy’s teachers are genuinely available when your child is.

We hold slots from late afternoon through the evening on Irish time, which is when Irish children are actually free. Ask any academy this directly before booking. Some advertise across Europe and quietly offer whichever slot is left over, which for an Irish family means a lesson that clashes with dinner and quietly stops after six weeks.

Planning around the Irish school year

Two things about the Irish calendar are worth knowing.

Transition Year is the best window you will get. TY carries no state examination and is built for learning that does not fit the points race. A student who commits to four or five sessions a week through TY covers more ground in that year than in the previous four combined. Almost nobody uses it this way.

Protect the exam years. Junior Cycle and, above all, the Leaving Certificate dominate a household. Switch to revision only lessons through sixth year rather than pretending otherwise, and your child keeps everything already learned without a fight.
