tahajjud dua

When it is quiet, and your heart is in distress, the one thing that keeps you breathing and helps you quiet your thoughts is a prayer. Now, this prayer is not just about the distress, but can add a huge value to your daily routine. Just like many others suggest on meditation, you can do it with Tahajjud. It is one of the most beloved and voluntary prayer in Islam. It is prayer in the middle of the night when the whole world around you sleeps. Besides, there is a popular belief that Tahajjud Dua is always accepted. We will delve into this and other significant aspects of this prayer further in this article.

What is Tahajjud?

Tahajjud, also known as qiyām ul-layl, is an act of devotion that enables us to establish a close connection with Allah. It is performed during the final third of the night, following the Isha prayer and preceding Fajr.

It is also mentioned in the Quran in Surah Al-Isra:

And rise at ˹the last˺ part of the night, offering additional prayers, so your Lord may raise you to a station of praise. “(17:79)

How this prayer is so valuable is because a person gets up in the 3rd middle of the night just to pray to one Allah. It boosts humility, self-control, and profound sincerity, making your relationship with Allah stronger. The inner peace, one often looks into the worldly materials, a little effort of Tahajjud, and it can be found within.

The Power and Significance of Dua for Tahajjud

Making Dua during Tahajjud is really special since it’s done at the quietest time of the night. That’s when people are the most sincere, and there are fewer distractions. It’s said that during this time, Allah is especially close to His servants, ready to accept their repentance and respond to those who reach out to Him.

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) (p.b.u.h) said, “Our Lord, the Blessed, the Superior, comes every night down on the nearest Heaven to us when the last third of the night remains, saying: “Is there anyone to invoke Me, so that I may respond to invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me, so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?” Sahih al-Bukhari 1145

Why Should You Build the Habit of Tahajjud?

Tahajjud is a personal and quiet way to worship that can bring about real change if you keep doing it regularly.

Here are some long-term benefits:

  • You’ll develop a stronger faith through a closer connection with Allah.
  • Enjoy mental peace from taking time to reflect and make a heartfelt dua.
  • Achieve more consistency in worship as you build sincerity and discipline.

It’s best to start small and be consistent. Even if you set aside just a few minutes or perform two rak‘ahs regularly, it has a greater impact than doing longer prayers occasionally. Those small daily steps can really help turn Tahajjud into a lifelong habit.

Practical Steps to Complement Your Duas

Genuine efforts often back up our prayers. Going to bed early can help you wake up ready for worship, feeling clear and focused.

  • Before you sleep, set a clear intention to pray and seek Allah’s pleasure.
  • Staying away from sins helps keep your heart open and your soul disciplined.
  • Along with taking action, it’s important to be patient and trust in Allah’s timing, what’s delayed isn’t denied; it’ll come when it’s meant to.
